Moving to Southern Maryland in 1987 Don returned to his roots in construction; managing the construction of hundreds of homes in one of St. Mary's County's first planned communities before founding Colony Builders.
Since it's founding in 1996 Colony Builders has designed and constructed over 100 custom homes throughout Southern Maryland. Colony Builders builds unique new homes with superior value. Our extensive experience as a custom home builder allows us to propose design solutions that work for your family & budget. Owner, Don Cropp founded Colony Builders, Inc. in 1996 bringing with him his over 40 years of construction knowledge and experience.
Don began his career as a teenager working with his father's construction company in Western Pennsylvania. It was this experience of growing up in a family-owned business that Don learned first hand the principles of construction, that of quality craftsmanship, honesty & ingenuity. Those principles are what Colony Builders is founded on today.
Working his way through college Don received his Undergraduate Degree in Industrial Arts & Urban Planning from California University of Pennsylvania. He then continued his career as City Engineer of Pasadena, Texas before returning back to Pennsylvania to finish his Masters in Public Administration from The University of Pittsburgh.
